Implementing Third-Party API's in a Drupal module — Video Available

Many services provide an API for accessing and manipulating their data and objects. Sometimes a PHP library is available to utilize that API and others are RESTful endpoints. A Drupal module can make it easier to use the library or endpoint by providing UI for configuration, storing and/or updating data and syncing Drupal objects.

In this session we will be reviewing the implementation of third-party API's in Drupal modules such as Salesforce and Mailchimp, as well as another API that is REST-like. We will discuss:

  • Mapping API objects to Drupal Entities
  • Configuration administration
  • Challenges when dealing with API's
  • Testing with third-party API's
